MINUTES
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
Greencourt Hall, May 23rd, 2002
1.
President Sandra Sharkey called the meeting to order at 7
PM
sharp.
- The
adoption of the agenda was moved by Sharkey, seconded by Fletcher and
passed.
- Our
guest speaker, Bill Higgs, Fire Chief of the Sechelt Volunteer Fire
Department gave brief introductory remarks on fire safety in the home and
then led all of the attendees outside for a presentation on extinguishing
live fires.
- The
formal part of the meeting was reconvened at approximately 7:40
- The
President, Sandra Sharkey gave her report of activities during the year.
Moved by Gray Waddell, seconded by Bob D’Arcy, the report was accepted
with thanks and congratulations to the President.
- Treasurer
Harold Fletcher reported on the financial status of the association – see
separate financial report. His report was adopted, moved by Sharkey, seconded
by Towle.
- The secretary’s
report consisted of confirmation that the appropriate filings had been
done with the government authorities under the societies act. The report
was accepted, moved by Sharkey, seconded by Fletcher.
- Public
Works and Planning each gave well accepted
informal reports. See appropriate files.
- Our
newsletter person, Julie Towle, gave a report and then the group thanked
her for her long dedication to getting the news out to the community
- The
nominating committee of Bob D’Arcy and Julie Towle reported that two new
persons had come forward to serve – David Cripps and Tom Nash. They were
introduced from the floor.
- By
acclimation the new board was elected with officers to be chosen by it
later. They are as follows:

- The
meeting was declared closed at 8:45
and a lively question and answer period followed the formal meeting when
refreshments were served.
