Minutes – Annual General Meeting – Feb. 24, 2004

Location – Christian Church Hall on Reef Rd.

The meeting was brought to order at 1930 hrs. by Renee McCall. There were 26 members in attendance and a number of other interested people who showed up for the Neighborhood planning meeting to take place immediately after the AGM.

Renee introduced the present members of the Board of Directors and thanked all of them for the work they had done in the last year.

Bob Milton read the minutes of the last AGM and they were moved adopted as read by Jason Herz, seconded by Gus Butt and passed unanimously.

Ken Matheson gave the treasurers report. We now have 1053.73 in our account with a few new memberships yet to be added in. Our biggest expense last year was the 200.00 that went toward the newspaper add put in by the Sechelt Business Association regarding the Seascape Development.

Renee gave the Chair’s report outlining what had happened during the last year, namely:

A number of developers are waiting in the wings for the Neighborhood Plan to come into effect so that they can start developing their property in the area.

The Sechelt council was approached regarding increasing bus service in the area.

The “rumble strips” are to be removed as they could be dangerous.

The stop signs are in place. They do not make people stop, however they do slow down.

The association did a lot of work along with the DBA on the Seascape project.

There is to be a painted centerline along Fairway and North Gale.

The Directors wrote a letter to the Sechelt Council commending the group that did the work on the Short Term Rentals.

The old G8 group is now called SCAF, Sechelt Community Association Forum. Or just, The Forum. It is now slightly more formatted in procedure although still not formally recognized by Sechelt Council.

The West Porpoise Bay Community Association is now in the process of registering with Victoria to have formal Association Status under the Societies Act. This will give the Directors some protection against lawsuits.

A motion was made by Gus Butt and seconded by Dave Devitt to change the date of membership renewal from January 1st of each year to September 1st of each year. Motion carried unanimously. This change will be made to the Constitution.
