The proposed subdivision of the Marsh property.
The Association voiced opposition to the Short Term Rental agreement signed by the District of Sechelt.
We expressed interest to the District over the shortfall of parking and traffic problems in the upcoming Bluffs development.
We are presently involved with the District’s proposed tree cutting bylaw.
We are keeping a close eye on the Districts water usage after it was stated that we no have water reserves to accommodate a 5% to 10% growth increase in population under the present system.
We have taken an active role in the ongoing Official Community Planning process for West Porpoise Bay.
The September picnic had a good turn out and we got several new members that way.
The porpoise patter was written by Bob Milton and sent out as a bulk mailing to all residents of the area.
This year Renee McCall is stepping down from the position of president that she has fill for several years. Renee has been one of the most active members in our Association and certainly one of the most active in the entire District of Sechelt. Renee is very well respected by many of the Councils in the district and is certainly going to be missed by all. We will try to keep her on the sidelines for some time so we can retain some of her knowledge and aptitude. Renee, we all thank you very much. Renee will stay on as a director but will not hold a position.
Bob Milton is stepping down from the position of Secretary but will remain on as a director at large.
The following people either have their term completed or will not be available for reelection as Directors, Bob Lanctot and Colin Crown.
Ken made the Call for Nominations with the following results. Blu Matheson nominated Sandra Scott, seconded by Marie Crown.
Jerry Couchman nominated Lorraine Blakeman, seconded by Patricia Couchman. Both were elected by acclamation.
Our Directors for the coming year will be Ken Matheson, Jason Herz, John McKenzie, Alan Pickard, Sandra Scott, Lorraine Blakeman, Renee McCall and Bob Milton.
The following comments were received from the floor but not in the form of a motion.
The poor quality of roadside pruning done by the District this last winter. We will discuss this with the Engineering dept. We should put together an Emergency Preparededness Plan for the area. We will contact Dave Devitt on this. Some residents were concerned about the possible noise pollution that would result from a crusher being started up at the mine above Snake Bay. We will contact the appropriate authorities regarding this.
Some discussion was made regarding the joining of members of SHORA with WPBCA. This will be brought up for discussion at the next SHORA AGM and a meeting will take place between the directors of both associations.
The meeting was adjourned at 2010 hrs and the floor given over to Ray Parfitt and Susan Stratis. They informed us that; the public copies of the plans were pulled by the Administrator due disagreement with some of the policies. Therefore we did not have the expected showing of this to the public. Susan gave a short discussion on some of the ideas that the planning group has been working on. Another meeting for this will be called in about three weeks.
Meeting adjourned.
Bob Milton, Secretary, West Porpoise Bay Community Association
